The Summer of Us

Aubrey and Rae have been planning their trip around Europe practically from the moment they became BFFs in primary school. And, now, it ought to be the perfect way to spend their last summer together before university. But things are more complicated at eighteen than they were at ten. There's Jonah, Aubrey's seemingly perfect boyfriend, and his best friend Gabe, the boy Aubrey may have accidentally kissed. And there's Clara, the friend Rae is crushing on, hard, even though there's no hope because Clara is definitely into guys, not girls.Five friends. Ten days. Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Florence, Barcelona. And a messy, complicated, can-this-really-be happening love story, or two ... because how could there not be?...

The Summer of Us Reviews

An arc of this book was sent to me by Little Brown Young Readers in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book, even more than I expected! I practically flew through this book, which is quite a feat because I have found myself in an actual reading slump as of late. This book was a perfect mixture of cute, sweet, and heartbreaking.

In this book I've learned some important messages, whether intentionally put there by the author or not, that no matter how

I love Vinesse's writing. I will always love it I think. I can't wait for you all to read it this summer!! This is a perfect beach read or road trip read. It's about beginnings and endings and the weird in between feeling. I found it extremely relatable and poignant. Full RTC

This book made me want to travel so bad! I haven’t been outside of the U.S. before and I’m dying to see what’s out there. It made me think of road trips across the

This is the kind of book that teenage me would have loved. And as a result adult, me really enjoyed it.

It was fun to read this light adventurous story that takes us through some o the most beautiful places in Europe. The author does a wonderful job of describing the intimate dynamics of changing friendships, and how coming of age and travel can not only help you find yourself but transform you into a new independent person.

This book made me feel so nostalgic for travel, old friendships and that

*I got this book for review from the publisher for my honest thoughts*

This book was the prefect book to start my summer reading adventures. This book follows a group of five friends on a epic road trip in europe the summer before the venture off to college. I loved the duel POV and how focused on friendship this book was. Also the lead girls were such different type of characters it made the book even more compelling and enjoyable. I def saw myself in the character of aubury. I loved the LGBTQ r

When this came in the post, I felt a little giddy. Wrapped in a crisp world map with some string, and a fake boarding pass to Prague, was The Summer of Us, a serious yet exciting debut about the changing of friendships as you get older, told during one last summer trip through Europe.

I went into this feeling excited about a contemporary on travel, not that they're hard to come by, but after just coming back from Prague and desperate go back out there again, I really felt like this book had come

I will adore pretty much any summer travel story, but this really is one of the best YA ones I've found! The characters completely make the story — there are 3 girls & 2 guys who backpack around Europe the summer before college. There's a kind of love triangle between one of the girls and the 2 guys, while the other two girls are trying to figure out if they like each other. These 2 girls were easily the best part and most developed. Their relationship is adorable and the feminist side comme ...more

It was the summer that Aubrey and Rae had planned almost since they met each other: one last trip throughout Europe with their friends Jonah, Gabe and Clara. However, neither one of them are expecting so many complications before the trip even starts. Aubrey and Jonah are dealing with some problems in their relationship, Rae is experiencing a massive crush on Clara (whom Rae is convinced doesn’t like her back) and Gabe and Aubrey shared a personal moment just before graduation, even though Aubre ...more

The Summer of Us is a whirlwind, travelogue adventure about 5 best friends and the trip that changes everything. Aubrey has always been a careful planner and a prepared student, but this European trip is testing her organizational and personal skills. Rae is spontaneous and determined to move on from high school but she’s hoping for a little summer romance with one of her friends before she starts college. Aubrey and Rae have
