JoAnn Ross introduces readers to the small town of Honeymoon Harbor and the residents that make up this lovely town. When Brianna Mannion decides to quit her high-profile job as a concierge in Las Vegas, she falls in love with this big old Victorian house that she loved as a child in her hometown of Honeymoon Harbor. But when she returns home, she finds her childhood friend Seth Harper grieving for the loss of his wife (and Brianna’s best friend) and she is determined to make her dream a reality ...more

Herons Landing is the perfect beach novel! First, you'll love the charm of a small town setting and especially by the water. Second, who can't help but love the family relationships. Third, romance and restoration of projects going on, now that is something to read about! You can't help but fall in love with these characters. Seth has some grief issues he's dealing with and Brianna returns to Honeymoon Harbor after the hospital industry doesn't offer her something that Honeymoon Harbor can. A ho ...more

3.5 stars! This was very cute! My biggest issues are that it felt too long and many scenes felt unnecessary. There was a lot of excessive dialogue and a few other "side stories" that weren't really needed. I loved Bri and Seth, even though the beginning dragged a bit as I waited for the romance part. The last quarter of the book was very predictable but sweet. I loved getting to know this town and all the restaurants, shops, businesses, etc.; that's my favorite part of these cozy small town comp ...more

Herons Landing features Brianna who has decided to move back home to open a B&B. The hosue she buys is in need of series remodel and she hires Seth to help her get it ready. Seth's wife Zoe was Brianna's best friend. Zoe was killed two years before in Afghanistan and he has been in mourning ever since.

I liked the story overall. What I enjoyed the most were the secondary characters in the town and in the two families. They made the story more interesting and I enjoyed those parts of the book

It was clear to me that Honeymoon Harbor was based on Port Townsend on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. Having been there, it was easy to imagine various places of business and those Victorian houses lined up along the bluff above the town. In this story, we meet Brianna Mannion, whose skills making high-end hotel guests happy come in handy when she's confronted by conflicts in her own hometown. Not so easy is how she plans to interact with Seth Harper. She's had a one-sided crush on him for yea ...more

I love JoAnn Ross’s books. There is such a strong blend of characters you want to know, a community where you want to live and back stories that give all of those things dimension.

This book also included a bonus story of Home to Honeymoon Harbor which is actually the first story in this series. This was a great story about going home again and letting go of your past. Brianna Mannion had left Honeymoon Harbor to make her mark and she ended up in Vegas working in a top of the line Hotel but she wasn't really happy but she knew what she wanted. At home in Honeymoon Harbor was a very large Victorian house that she wanted to turn into a bed and breakfast and she knew she coul ...more

I'm going to start by saying I'm giving this one four stars only because it was a little slow for me. Maybe I'm just used to more fast paced novels but this one was kind of dragging for a bit. But that's not to say the story isn't worth it, because it is. The romance between Seth and Brianna is sweet and that almost feels meant to be. For as much as Seth regards Zoe as his soul mate, I don't know if that's really true- maybe she wasn't and her death (as tragic as it was) needed to happen in orde ...more
